CBZ | Feb 2010 | 25 pages | 21.9 MB
A spoof in the tradition of Mad Magazine, the 4-issue miniseries Barack the Barbarian took its cue when US President Barack Obama mentioned he collected Conan the Barbarian comics as a kid. A gathering of children listen as a shaman retells the legend of Barack the Barbarian. Supernatural is the cool, hit program on the CW television network starring Jared Padelacki and Jensen Ackles as two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, who travel the country in an Impala killing monsters, ghosts, demons or demi-gods that are bent on harming people. In the past, Wildstorm has done other "Supernatural" prequel stories and this is the latest. The filename and comic book archive do not have scanner credits but from the clean, processed look of the pages, this could be a Minutemen scan.

Picking up several years after the hit RISING SON miniseries, the Winchester clan find themselves in the strangest situation imaginable - monster hunting in the Big Apple! The definitive events that led to Sam leaving his family to attend Stanford, this gripping and horrifying story, courtesy of television series writers Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin, will explore the raw nerves of what makes the Winchesters unique and volatile. The Zombies That Ate The World #1 (of 8)

The Zombies That Ate The World #1 (of 8)
CBR | 29 pages | Feb 2009 | 24.5 MB
The Zombies That Ate The World is an eight-issue miniseries from Devil's Due Publishing set in a future world where the dead have come back to life and the living are forced to coexist with them by law. Given that as premise, Jerry Frissen & Guy Davis turned what would otherwise be another horrible horror gorefest into something totally unexpected and most welcome--a very funny, macabre, terrific horror series that Quentin Tarantino would wish he'd written (not that he ever entertained the idea of writing comic books). Part homage to the genre, part parody, and partially a bizarre tongue-in-cheek sociopolitical commentary, it's a fun read and a great diversion from the usual--and it seems now pedestrian--blood and gore of the sub-genre or from the usual hero fare.

Two Lady Dangers

This is the final "Lady Danger" story drawn by Carmine Infantino. It's from Sensation Comics #89, 1949. The series went on for a few more episodes before being replaced by a couple of romance-styled strips, "Dr. Pat," and "Romance, Inc.," as Sensation bowed to the then-current love comics craze. For its last four episodes "Lady Danger" was drawn by Emil Gershwin. Nothing against Mr. Gershwin, who went on to ACG and the supernatural comics, et al., but to me the peak of "Lady Danger" was when Infantino was pencilling and Bob Oksner was inking. This particular episode was inked by veteran Joe Giella. No credit is given by the Grand Comics Database for the writer, but it was most likely editor Robert Kanigher.

We've shown some Infantino/Oksner stories in the past. Go to the link below and click on Lady Danger.
