Starting with this issue, IDW introduces what would be the second volume and actually the first true ongoing title of its highly successful comic book series, Transformers. The storyline, set sometime in the near future, still follows the continuity and chronology IDW established with its reboot of the franchise through long-time writer Simon Furman when it was awarded the licensing rights by toy company Hasbro in 2005. In library terms, this new ongoing first issue would be issue #79 for IDW Publishing. And what a great way to start the new ongoing series, too!
